Job Title: Construction Supervisor (Electrical)
Reports to: Construction Leader
Department: Construction

Purpose

The Construction Supervisor (Electrical) is responsible for providing suitable, effective, and proactive supervision to sub-contractors and the supply chain. This role ensures that the electrical installation and commissioning within the project are conducted safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, work instructions, guidance notes, and other information forming part of the Integrated Management and Project Delivery Systems.
  • Oversee the timely installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical equipment.
  • Represent the company in meetings, witness quality hold points in Supplier Inspection and Test Plans, and follow the Quality Plan.
  • Inspect and obtain acceptance of electrical installations by the Client.
  • Carry out the Electrical Appointed Person role and prepare, issue, and control permits to work as required.
  • Maintain the project "Snag List" concerning electrical items and ensure satisfactory rectification.
  • Conduct electrical acceptance/takeover demonstrations and complete all relevant documentation to meet contractual and company requirements.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is complete and accepted by the Client.
  • Mark up all site electrical and P&I drawings and assist in the production of 'As Built' drawings.
  • Ensure that, upon completion of electrical installation, the sub-contractor demobilizes and removes all surplus materials, leaving the site clean and tidy.
  • Proactively troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and systems, performing corrective actions per project contract obligations.
  • Liaise with Client representatives at the site level to agree on modes of operation and assist in producing Method Statements for site activities.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure proper installation before commissioning and operation of equipment and plant items.
  • Assist in preparing a Project Daily Diary of events in conjunction with the Site Manager.
  • Report progress against the agreed program and notify the Construction Manager of any delays.
  • Monitor materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with 'Approved for Construction' drawings, materials, and specifications.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety responsibilities associated with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy.
  • Perform any other duties in line with the position as assigned from time to time.

Performance Measures

  • Safe and successful installation and handover of electrical plant and equipment per defined programs and specifications.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of any issues impacting project timelines, cost, quality, or safety.
  • Completion of all electrical installation and construction completion documentation.
  • Accurate and efficient markup of drawings.
  • Effective implementation of health and safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, and Environmental Plans.
  • Timely resolution of plant snags and defects.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications/Skills:

  • A formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND minimum)
  • SSSTS / SMSTS / CSCS
  • IOSH Managing Safely in Construction or NEBOSH equivalent
  • HV Switching, Isolating, and Testing qualification and experience
  • First Aid at Work/Emergency First Aid

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrable site experience in the water, wastewater, or related sectors, with supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in IT packages, including Microsoft Office.
