We are working with a RIBA Chartered Practice with over 40 years’ experience, operating across the UK with a strong reputation for innovation, design and application excellence. Their comprehensive range of services includes Architecture, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering and Principal Designer. They have significant Architectural, Engineering and Principal Designer experience, working for both Public and Private sector clients. Their primary sectors include Residential, Industrial, Education, Financial, Healthcare, Commercial, Leisure and Custodial developments.
They are looking to enhance their Principal Designer service and are seeking an experienced and qualified professional to join their team. This role will be instrumental in supporting the implementation of the new duty holder responsibilities outlined in the Building Safety Act 2022. To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate the ability to:
Carry out building inspections, site visits, surveys and prepare reports.
Offer advice around the Building Safety Act to both external clients and colleagues to ensure compliance on projects.
Liaise with Principal Designer, Principal Contractor and other parties.
Undertake plan checks and review designs to establish compliance for submission for Building Regulation approval.
Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the building process.
Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs compliance.
Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Support with the ongoing development of process and procedures.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

Excellence in both Professional and Construction Services
Expert knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation including RIBA Plan of work stages.
Ability to deliver work outputs within set time frames and commercial goals.
Experience of inspecting buildings and attending site.
Commitment, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
Membership to a recognised professional body (RIBA, ARB, CIAT etc).
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to commute to Cardiff.
