On-site Structural Clerk of Works – Civils/Nuclear – Plymouth – 4 days on site - £42 p/h

Main Role
• Daily on-site presence at clients Dockyard (Plymouth) to oversee a programme of repairs to structures within a particular dock. These structures are predominantly substantial reinforced concrete constructions with some being Nuclear Safety Class 1.
• First point of contact for all matters relating to the proposed reinforced concrete repairs.
• Daily close cooperation and main interface with repair contractors, design engineers and core engineering team (client).
• Daily close cooperation with the Senior Engineer responsible for the specification of repairs.
• Overseeing the repairs scheduling in conjunction with all stakeholders.
• Development and maintenance of a network of contacts to allow efficient governance of the repair process in line with the requirements associated with the Nuclear Safety Class of the structures.
• Understand key client requirements and specifications relating to structural repairs.
• Identify and manage risks, particularly those that affect safety, and to ensure that all tasks under your control are performed with the utmost regard for health and safety.
Please note that due to security restrictions, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer and no dual nationality.

Candidate:
- Concrete and steel remedial works experience
- QA/QC experience
- Concrete and steel design experience
- Nuclear industry or heavy civils experience
- Ideally chartered with a relevant institution (ICE, or IStructE)
- Management of sub-contractors/consultant
- The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a Civil or Structural engineering related discipline. Preferably a member of a relevant professional institution or working towards membership.
