Working with a leading Tier 1 Engineering and Construction contractor, I am recruiting for a Cost Engineer to join their team to work on a high profile project in the nuclear sector.

Join them in improving lives through technology-based engineering solutions for the UK's energy, water, and transportation sectors. Supporting the lifespan extension of UK nuclear power stations, providing project controls and commercial managed services to the UK’s nuclear portfolio. Their mission includes developing project control skills and offering specialist support to enhance project performance and cost efficiency.

Job Description/Purpose
We have an exciting opportunity on a long term framework to help defuel and decommission the AGR nuclear power station—a UK first! As a Cost Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in the Project Controls team, managing cost support for the project portfolio. You'll work closely with the internal team, the client, and suppliers, handling all aspects of cost management and reporting. Hybrid working is available but you will be required to be present on site a minimum of 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor, analyze, and report on project costs.
• Identify and understand variances against the baseline.
• Perform cost reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly status reports and participate in accountability meetings.
• Conduct cost forecasting.
• Manage baselines.
• Oversee change and risk management.
• Develop and use Project Control Structures (CBS, OBS, WBS).
• Collaborate with the Planning Project team to align financials with the project plan.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
• Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk tools.
• Strong understanding of project team interactions for successful project delivery.
• Experience with Earned Value Analysis/Management (EVM).
• High numeracy and excellent analytical skills.
Desirable
• Self-motivated with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, ideally in a regulated environment.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications
Desirable
• HNC/HND, degree in a cost-related discipline, or relevant experience.
• MACostE.

To be considered for this role you must be able to achieve CTC security clearance which requires a minimum of 3 years UK residency.
